Hear ye, hear ye: the Scarborough Renaissance Festival unleashes one of its boldest, most spirited themed weekends yet: Barbarian Weekend, April 18-19. Expect feats of strength, larger-than-life characters, and a healthy dose of playful mayhem.

At the center of the action, North Texas mayors and city leaders step out of city hall and into the royal court, marching alongside barbarians and nobility in a high-energy celebration of civic pride . . . with a distinctly Renaissance twist.

“Capes, crowns, and civic pride collide as regional leaders join the Royal Family in a lively parade, followed by a royal ceremony complete with knightings and proclamations. Expect bold visuals, big personalities, and plenty of camera-ready moments,” a spokesman said.

The mayor and city leaders' celebration parade and royal ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Chess Stage.

Participating leaders include:

• Waxahachie Mayor Billie Wallace

• DeSoto Mayor Rachel Proctor

• Mansfield Mayor Michael Evans

• Wylie Mayor Matthew Porter

• Sachse Mayor Pro Tem Brett Franks

• Arlington Mayor Pro Tem Raul H. Gonzalez

• Ennis Commissioner Shirley Watson

• Waxahachie Convention & Visitors Bureau Director Laurie Mosley

Additional weekend highlights include:

• Barbarian Costume Contests (Adults and Children) – Noon at the Crown Stage

• Beard Contest – 1:30 p.m. at the Canterbury Stage

• Stein Holding Competition – 4 p.m. at the Royal Pavilion

Scarborough Renaissance Festival is located at 2511 Farm-to-Market 66, Waxahachie.
