Waxahachie Symphony Association 2025-26 season opens Sept. 27 with the Duke Ellington Orchestra

This fall, the Waxahachie Symphony Association will strike up another season of unforgettable music, offering audiences a vibrant mix of big band, jazz, and classical performances. Since 1976, the WSA has brought world-class artists to Ellis County, and the upcoming 2025-26 season promises to deliver the same blend of artistry, tradition, and fun.
“This season of concerts has a fun flair,” said WSA President Melissa Chapman. “With six diverse performances, there’s truly something for everyone to enjoy.”
Season Highlights
· Sept. 27 – The Duke Ellington Orchestra
The season kicks off in grand style with the legendary Duke Ellington Orchestra, a group that keeps the Duke’s bold, swinging legacy alive by blending timeless classics with fresh, vibrant interpretations. This performance is made even more special through a collaboration with Nelson University, as their own Dr. Tyrone Block—Dean of the College of Music and Communication Arts—will take the stage as a featured member of the orchestra.
· Nov. 22 – Boston Brass
Known for dazzling technical skill and lively showmanship, Boston Brass brings an exhilarating program that mixes classical arrangements, fiery jazz, and original brass works—all delivered with their trademark humor and charm.
· Dec. 5 – Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Christmas Concert
The WSA’s most beloved holiday tradition returns as the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra fills the season with festive cheer. Expect timeless carols, joyful melodies, and an evening of holiday magic perfect for the whole family.
· Feb. 28 – Miró Quartet
Back by popular demand, the Grammy-nominated Miró Quartet will enchant Waxahachie audiences with their dynamic artistry. For three decades, the Austin-based ensemble has wowed critics and audiences around the globe with performances that honor the chamber music tradition while embracing fresh interpretations.
· Spring at the Chautauqua Auditorium – The Singapore Slingers
One of the Metroplex’s quirkiest treasures, The Singapore Slingers bring their retro jazz style to Waxahachie’s historic Chautauqua Auditorium. Their repertoire spans ragtime, the Jazz Age, and the roots of swing—a toe-tapping journey through the first three decades of American popular music.
· Season finale – Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra
The FWSO returns to close the season with a sweeping program: Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte, Tchaikovsky’s Polonaise from Eugene Onegin, and Dvořák’s spirited Symphony No. 8. It’s a finale filled with elegance, drama, and joy.
“We always hear wonderful feedback about the FWSO’s energy, and our audience looks forward to their concerts every year,” Chapman said.
