TxDOT meeting on FM 663 widening set for May 15

The Texas Department of Transportation will hold an in-person meeting from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 15, relating to the proposed widening of Farm-to-Market 663 from U.S. Highway 287 in Ellis County. The meeting will be held at Midlothian Bible Church, 4250 FM 663.

The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input and provide information about the project. Concurrent with the in-person meeting, TxDOT will hold a virtual meeting from 5 p.m. Thursday, May 25, through 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 30, for people to view the materials and share their input online.

Online materials will include the pre-recorded presentation provided at the in-person meeting with audio and video components, along with exhibits and other information. The virtual meeting is not live; materials are viewed at a person’s convenience.

Project details include:

• The reconstruction and widening of FM 663 from FM 875 to U.S. Highway 287 (about 3.5 miles).

• Improvements include two (ultimately three) 12-foot-wide lanes in each direction that are divided by a raised median.

• A shared-use path on the southbound side and a sidewalk on the northbound side are proposed.

• Turn lanes and intersection improvements at side and cross streets.

• The proposed right-of-way width varies from 125 to 185 feet.
