Tickets available for the 250th Marine Corps birthday gala on Nov. 10 at the civic center
The Ellis County Marine Corps League Detachment invites the public to join it in celebrating the 250th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps on Monday, Nov. 10, at the Waxahachie Civic Center.
The formal attire, ticketed event will be held from 6-11 p.m. and will include a cocktail hour, special Marine-led ceremony, plated dinner, music by the Classic Swing Band, and dancing. In support of the Toys for Tots program in Ellis County, attendees are also asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy.
“This year’s Marine Corps birthday celebration will be an extraordinary event, marking two and a half centuries of courage, honor, and commitment,” a spokesman said. “The evening will feature a formal ceremony, a full dinner, and dancing, blending time-honored Marine Corps traditions with community fellowship.”
Proceeds from the event will support scholarships for Ellis County veterans and their families.
“As America celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, it’s equally important to honor the founding of the military services that secured that independence,” the spokesman said. “The Navy and Marine Corps were established together in 1775 in Philadelphia, beginning the fight for freedom that continues to this day.”
