School supply collection event slated for Saturday, June 28, at Railyard Park in Waxahachie

The Ellis County Sheriff's Office, Waxahachie Police Department, and North Ellis Emergency Communications Centers will host a 911 Gives Back initiative from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 28, at Railyard Park in downtown Waxahachie. This is a community outreach event designed to support local families by collecting essential school supplies for students in need across Ellis County.

“This interactive and family-friendly morning event will be a blend of purpose and play – aimed at ensuring every child enters the 2025-26 school year prepared and confident,” a Facebook post reads.

Event highlights include:

• School Supply Drop-Off Station – Contribute new school supplies to directly benefit under-resourced students throughout Ellis County.

• Touch-A-Truck Experience – Kids and families can explore emergency vehicles up close, meet first responders, and enjoy interactive demonstrations.

• Family Fun Zone - Featuring bounce houses, a splash pad, and more – it’s the perfect summer outing for families while supporting a meaningful cause.

The school supplies wish list includes:

• Backpacks

• Binders

• Notebooks

• Pencils and pens

• Crayons and colored pencils

• Markers and highlighters

• Construction paper

• Folders and erasers

• Glue sticks and liquid glue

• Scissors

• Pencil boxes and bags

• Disinfecting wipes

• Dry erase markers

• Hand sanitizer (8-ounce and 32-ounce sizes)

• Tissues

Those unable to make the event can still contribute by taking their donations to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, 300 S. Jackson St., Waxahachie, through July 19.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to public service, youth advocacy, and equity in education,” a spokesman said. “Let’s come together to lift up our future leaders with the tools they need to succeed.”
