Rainbow trout stocking set for Dec. 2 at Ellis County locations
It's the most wonderful time of the year – trout time! Rainbow trout stocking is underway and continues until March. Again this fishing season, several Ellis County locations are part of the program.
“We'll stock 300,000-plus rainbows across the state at more than 200 locations,” a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department spokesman said. “These trout are fun to catch and meant to be eaten, so reel ‘em in! The daily bag limit is five fish per person, with no size limit.”
Ellis County locations include:
• BelleVue Park in Waxahachie – 700 rainbow trout to be stocked Dec. 2
• Mustang Creek Park in Waxahachie – 1,500 rainbow trout to be stocked Dec. 2 and Jan. 7
• Sports Complex Park in Waxahachie – 1,500 rainbow trout to be stocked Dec. 2 and Jan. 7
• Bluebonnet Park Lake in Ennis – 400 rainbow trout to be stocked Dec. 18
• Red Oak Municipal Lake in Red Oak – 600 rainbow trout to be stocked Jan. 13

“Trout are stocked in all Neighborhood Fishin' ponds, the perfect place to take family or holiday visitors and create some happy fishing memories,” the spokesman said. “They’re open year-round to help you teach children and beginners the skill of fishing. Kernel corn, meal worms, dough balls, cheese balls, and many other baits can be used to catch rainbow trout.”
