P&Z approves Crossroads 287 zoning change; continues Sam's Club and townhome projects to Aug. 12 meeting

The Waxahachie Planning and Zoning Commission met Tuesday, July 15, with the following actions taken on the agenda items.

At the applicant’s request, the proposed Sam’s Club at 2400 N. U.S. Highway 77 was not brought up for discussion but was instead continued until the P&Z’s Tuesday, Aug. 12, meeting.

After its public hearing, the agenda item for Heritage Square Townhomes Phase 2 at 501 Houston St. was also continued until the Aug. 12 meeting to allow the applicant time for adjustments  

The P&Z approved a zoning change recommendation to the city council for the Crossroads 287 mixed-use development planned for the old Magnablend property at 1601 W. U.S. Highway 287 Bypass. The change will go before the city council at its next meeting for final approval.

In other business, the P&Z approved specific use permit recommendations for short-term rentals at 710 Perry Ave. and 821 Williams St. and accessory structures at 407 Brown St. and 601 N. Grand Ave.
