Neighborhood meeting on proposed Sam's Club slated for Thursday, July 24

A neighborhood meeting between residents and Sam’s Club officials is planned for this Thursday, July 24. City staff and officials also will be in attendance.
Those wanting more information about the proposed Sam’s Club to be located at 2400 N. U.S. Highway 77 are encouraged to attend. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Waxahachie Police Department community room, 630 Farley St.
The proposed Sam’s Club would be located at the southeast corner of Grove Creek Road and U.S. Highway 77, and its proximity to nearby neighborhoods has drawn criticism from residents.
In particular, online comments have noted the traffic already in that area along Highway 77, with residents also remarking on how another membership-based warehouse club, BJ’s Wholesale Club, is under construction nearby, at Highway 77 and Hedgewood Drive. Previous news reports have indicated that location could be operational as early as January 2026.
The Sam’s Club project was on the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission’s July 16 agenda, but the matter was continued with no decision made. It is now scheduled to be heard at the P&Z’s Aug. 12 meeting.
