Master Gardeners informational meeting slated for Thursday, July 31

The Ellis County Master Gardeners have announced their next training class and invite interested community members to attend a come-and-go information session from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at First Baptist Church in Waxahachie.

“The Ellis County Master Gardeners invite all who are interested to join us for an informational meeting about joining the Ellis County Master Gardener Association,” a spokesman said. “Find out who we are, what our mission is all about, and how you can be part of it.”

Applications will be available during the informational meeting. Those wanting to participate must be age 18 or older and a resident of Ellis County or nearby areas.

Selection for the training is based on the organization’s volunteer needs and the applicant’s qualifications.

Requirements:

• interest in helping people

• ability and desire to learn

• willingness to provide unbiased, research-based information

• be a team player

The class size will be limited to 25. Gardening experience and expertise are not required.

Class tuition for the training is $225 and includes the textbook plus 50-plus hours of research-based gardening education.

Classes are held from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 4-Oct. 30, at First Baptist Church, 450 E. U.S. Highway 287, Waxahachie. Students should bring their own sack lunch; snacks will be provided.
