City of Ennis announces upcoming mayoral transition

ENNIS – On Tuesday, Oct. 7, Ennis Mayor Kameron Raburn announced his candidacy for Ellis County judge, according to a media release issued by the city, which further noted that, in accordance with election law, the announcement triggers his resignation from the elected position.

The release noted that the city is working to determine an official date for a special election to fill the seat. Once the election date is confirmed, detailed information regarding the filing period and election procedures will be released. The special election will most likely be held near the end of January 2026, according to the release.

Raburn will continue to serve as mayor until the results of the special election are canvassed and a newly elected mayor is sworn in.

“The city of Ennis thanks Mayor Raburn for his leadership and dedication to the community and will ensure a smooth and transparent transition process for residents and city leadership alike,” the release said.
