Christmas in July Festival of Trees: an early holiday shopping event July 19 and 26

Ellis County Habitat for Humanity was established in 2001. Its mission was and still is to provide decent and affordable housing for families in need.

Since its inception, the 501c3 nonprofit has built and or renovated homes for 14 families – three in Ennis, one in Midlothian, and 10 in Waxahachie.

As a Christian volunteer organization, Habitat for Humanity depends on donated funds and hardworking volunteers to see each build or renovation come to fruition.

Habitat for Humanity will be hosting its first-ever Christmas in July Festival of Trees, this month, July 19 and 26. This marks the beginning of an early shopping event that will offer something for everyone looking to get in the Christmas state of mind early.

The event will offer gently used items, as well as brand-new items. The main rule is that the donations need to be in good working condition. The list of donation items needed includes trees, wreaths, decorations, ribbon, lights, glue sticks, wire, zip ties, and cash donations.

This is the jumpstart Ellis County Habitat for Humanity hopes will carry them into the remainder of 2025, as they continue to construct one home, for one family at a time.

Over the years, Habitat for Humanity of Ellis County has made a lasting impression on the lives of families as they have provided them with homes that are safe and affordable. The economic impact they have within Ellis County continues to grow.

They depend on like-minded individuals to see their mission come to life. Volunteers are always needed in all areas of operation, from home construction and board leadership to committee participation and administrative support in the office.

No special skills are required to become a volunteer. Professionals within the group guide volunteers to see where they fit best.

The minimum age for working with Habitat for Humanity is 16. For additional information, email the volunteer coordinator at info@ellishabitat.org.

The Habitat for Humanity Christmas in July Festival of Trees donation drive event will be held on Saturday, July 19, and Saturday, July 26, at 211 Methodist St. in Red Oak, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. both days.
