STAR Transit services extended for Wilmer residents through fall 2026
WILMER, TX – The City of Wilmer approved an Interlocal Agreement with STAR Transit for public transportation services provided to the citizens of Wilmer.
The agreement is an extension to the services currently offered to residents and will allow for uninterrupted service through September 30, 2026.
“This joint effort with Wilmer and STAR Transit is in line with our mission to offer reliable, accessible public transportation to Wilmer residents,” said Wilmer Mayor Sheila Petta. “With this continued transportation service, we are proud to not only promote community connectivity, but also ongoing economic opportunity.”
The North Central Texas Council of Governments will end funding to cover transportation for the city’s STAR Transit service in September. Since 2020, NCTCOG has provided $4.5M in funding to cover transportation through September 2025.
After that date the Wilmer Economic Development Board and the Wilmer Community Development Board will fund the transition allowing Star Transit customers to continue to receive this vital service.
