Posada named new city administrator in Wilmer

WILMER – Frank Posada has been named as Wilmer’s new city administrator.

Posada’s official effective date was July 6, and he was appointed to the position on June 18.

With a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Dallas Posada’s career has been built over the years around leadership, operations, and problem-solving.

Before joining the city of Wilmer Posada spent a number of years managing operations for organizations across Texas. During his career he has not only been a key player in operations management, but he has overseen facilities, budgets, capital improvement projects, technology, and day-to-day operations.

“Every past position in my career has given me the skills to lead the city of Wilmer today through teamwork, accountability and exceptional service,” Posada said.

Working alongside Wilmer’s City Council, Posada said he sees his new role as imperative to the city’s future success emphasizing strong leadership and service to the residents.

“I hope to build a strong relationship throughout the community,” Posada concluded. “My door is always open, and I welcome the opportunity to receive ideas, concerns, and suggestions. Working together we can build a city the residents will be proud to call home.”

When not at work Posada enjoys spending time with his wife and children while also coaching youth sports and giving back to the community.

Mayor Petta resigns

In other news, Wilmer’s Mayor Sheila Petta stepped down from her mayoral seat this past Friday, July 10.

Her resignation letter read, “It is with mixed emotions that I submit my resignation as Mayor of the City of Wilmer, effective July 10, 2026. Serving the residents of Wilmer has been one of the greatest honors of my life.”

For more than a decade, Petta worked in several roles within the city of Wilmer’s government.

She most recently won the city’s mayoral election this past May for a two-year term.

In the past, she also served on the Planning & Zoning Commission, followed by two terms on the city council. Petta was first elected as Wilmer’s mayor in 2020.

During her time as mayor, Petta took the honor of being the city’s first elected official to earn a certified municipal official designation through the Texas Municipal League. She also represented Wilmer on the Texas Municipal League Small Cities Advisory Council, the North Texas Mayors Economic Council, and the Best Southwest Partnership Board. 

Wilmer City Administrator Frank Posada said, “I worked with Mayor Petta for a short time before her resignation; however, I appreciate the work and dedication she has put into the city of Wilmer.”
