Buford announces campaign for U.S. Congress in Texas’ 6th District
POLITICAL ANNOUNCEMENT – James Buford, a pastor, businessman and community leader with more than 30 years of service, has announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Texas’ 6th Congressional District. Running as a Republican, Buford is committed to upholding conservative principles in Washington and ensuring government reflects the founding belief that it exists to serve the people.
“When government grows too big, it forgets who it serves,” said Buford. “As a pastor and businessman, I’ve seen how hardworking families are affected when Washington wastes our money and limits our freedom. I believe government should be on your side, not in your way. I’ll work to downsize Washington, balance the budget, and put America first.”
Before entering ministry, Buford worked as a carpenter, where he learned the value of hard work and solving problems with his own hands. For more than three decades as a pastor, he has been there for families through some of life’s hardest moments, offering support and steady leadership. He also serves on the AAGD Legislative Committee, where he helps evaluate candidates for public office and takes part in policy discussions affecting local communities and economic well-being.
Buford’s platform focuses on three key priorities. 1) He supports downsizing the federal government to reduce overreach and return decision-making power to local communities. 2) He is committed to restoring fiscal responsibility in Washington by cutting wasteful spending and working toward a balanced federal budget. 3) He supports an America First approach that prioritizes American workers, secures the border and strengthens national defense.
Buford is a devoted husband, father of five and grandfather of twelve. His commitment to public service is rooted in faith, family and the belief that government should work for the people.
